How the 10-Second Rule Improves Your Approach

I’ve already discussed the 10 Second Rule and why it’s important, in my previous post.

In a nutshell it is this: When you spot a woman, never hesitate for longer than 10 seconds before approaching her (or deciding not to approach her).

One of the obvious benefits of following this rule is that it kicks your ass into gear and makes sure you’ll be taking action and not just sitting around, nursing your drink. Remember that, to a great extent, picking up women is game of numbers and experience. The 10 Second Rule gives you an advantage on both accounts: More approaches means greater chances of success (even just by pure chance) and at the same time, builds your experience and your skills more quickly.

Perhaps the greatest benefit if the 10 Second Rule is how it changes your attitude, though. It prevents you from over-thinking and that’s a very good thing. The longer you wait before approaching someone, the more you think about them. And the more you think about someone, the more opinions about them start forming in your head.

You might be in awe of a woman you’re thinking about: “Wow, she’s so beautiful. And it looks like she’s a really interesting person, too…”

Or maybe you’re trying to make excuses to yourself: “Well, she’s not really my type. I bet she already has a boyfriend, anyway…”

These kinds of thoughts will have a negative impact on your “vibe” and will make a positive response on her part less likely.

If you don’t overthink and haven’t formed opinions yet, you approach her with an open and curious mind. Since you don’t “know” about her yet, you want to find out. This automatically makes it more likely that you’ll ask her open questions (the best kind of questions to ask) and it also makes it likely that you’ll ask her to qualify herself (i.e. “what do you have to offer?”). And making her qualify herself is a very powerful attraction factor.

From now on, always follow the 10 Second Rule. If you hesitate any longer, forget that girl and look for a new target.

  1. From now on, always follow the 1 Second Rule.

Is that a typo? Or did you really intend to advocate an extreme version of the rule?
